About Me

Hi! My name is Shayla Marie. I am from Pasadena, "the Dena", MD. I have recently discovered my creative side and plan to use this blog as a channel to share my explorations. Items shared will be orignal creations by me -or- ideas that I found/heard of and gave a try. So far I have begun painting glasses, creating affordable home decor, baking, and cake decorating.

Homemade SpongeBob SquarePants Cake

My little brother wanted a SpongeBob cake for his birthday and instead of ordering one from the store, I signed up to make it.  This was one of my first attempts at cake decorating.

I used a picture of SpongeBob, boxed cake mix, vanilla frosting, yellow icing spray, and tube icing for the accents (checks, eyes, tie, pants).

Here are a few pictures from the process:

Simple Sunflower Cake

This is not my original idea but something I found on the internet last year and had to give it a try. It is the perfect combo of simple and adorable. It works great to make for a small Easter or Spring get-together.

It is truly easy to make - anyone one can have success with this!  All you need is: a small round cake pan, cake mix, chocolate frosting, chocolate morsels, and yellow Peeps.  Of course, you can always go the extra mile and make the cake and frosting from scratch. To make this: bake the cake, center it in the middle of the serving plate, frost it, carefully place the chocolate morsels on top, arrange Peeps evenly around the sides, and enjoy!

If you want to make a bigger cake, you can also make the cake using two 9-inch round pans and place the Peeps on top of the finished cake around the edges.
